All of these sales methods can be used to sell most products and services, but usually, through trial and error you will determine the technique that you feel works best for you and your company. Be careful not to rule anything out too quickly. You may have a preferred or “more comfortable” method but by mixing two or more methods together you may find you multiply your levels of success.
If the budget that you are working with is small, then you may want to try telephone sales at first since this is the cheapest method of selling. Even in today's climate most products and services can be sold over the phone.
Many companies successfully use the methods of phone sales and online sales in combination. For example, a salesperson may contact a potential customer by phone, but also invite the prospect to visit a website either whilst on the phone, or after the call (perhaps via a link emailed out) to view more information. By combining methods, you increase your chances of closing more sales.
Whatever you decide to do record what you did how successful it was and how much it cost you.
The best part of selling is really enjoying what you do. When you enjoy what you do, you will make more sales. It’s great if you enjoy the method of sales you are employing but always bear in mind the feeling you get when your business is successful, sometimes we have to step out of our comfort zones in order to succeed!
